Your privacy
What BeSavored collects when you use the site, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it. Last updated October 2026.
The short version
- BeSavored shows no ads and does not sell your information.
- Recipes you send are rewritten by an AI service. Your email never goes with them.
- A saved recipe gets a public page that anyone can find.
- Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits.
- You can delete your account and your saved recipes yourself.
What you give us
Recipes. When you ask for an adaptation, the recipe text goes to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, which rewrites it. No account details go with it. Anthropic does not train its models on this data and normally deletes it within 30 days.
Links. If you paste a link to a recipe page, our server visits that page to read the recipe. If you paste a video link, our server sends it to Supadata, a service that returns the video transcript.
Your account. An account takes an email address and a password. Supabase, our database provider, stores the password only as a one-way hash, a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the password. We use your email only to sign you in and to send account emails, such as password resets, which go out through Resend.
Your diet choice. The choice you pick, Lower-sodium or Diabetic-friendly, is stored with the recipe. We do not ask about your health.
Saved recipes are public
When you save a recipe, it gets its own page on be-savored.com. Anyone can open that page. It is listed in our sitemap, so it can appear in search results.
The page holds the adapted recipe and, if you started from a link, that original link. It never includes your email or anything else from your account.
To find a photo for the page, we send the dish name to Unsplash, a free photo library.
Cookies and storage on your device
Cookies are small pieces of text a site keeps in your browser. BeSavored sets these:
bs_anonlets you adapt one recipe free before you sign up. It holds a random ID, nothing about you, and lasts about 13 months.- Sign-in cookies, with names starting
sb-, keep you signed in. Supabase sets them when you sign in. They last up to about 13 months, and signing out removes them. _gaand_ga_followed by a code are set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart. They last up to 2 years, though some browsers delete them sooner.
When you tick off ingredients or steps, the ticks are saved in your browser (local storage) and stay on your device.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, you cannot sign in.
Analytics
Two tools count visits, so we can see how many people use the site and which pages they open.
Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. It does not use third-party cookies. It tells visits apart with a code made from each request, and that code is discarded after 24 hours.
Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you found the site, your approximate city, your device and browser, and some actions on a page, such as scrolling near the end, starting to fill in a form or clicking a link to another site. It does not record what you type. Your browser sends Google your IP address along with the page address. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. We never send Google your email or your recipes. Google Analytics keeps detailed, visit-level data for up to 14 months and summary counts for longer.
Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services. To stop Google Analytics on every site you visit, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
The site does not change what it collects when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Keeping the service running
To stop the free tool from being overloaded, we count requests from each IP address per hour. Those counts are deleted automatically, usually within two days. Vercel, which hosts the site, also keeps short-lived request logs, including our own log lines. Those never include your email. When something goes wrong, a line can include a dish name or a few words of a recipe, so we can find the problem.
Who else handles your data
- Vercel hosts the site.
- Supabase stores accounts and saved recipes.
- Anthropic rewrites recipes.
- Supadata fetches video transcripts.
- Unsplash supplies recipe photos. The photos load straight from Unsplash, so it sees your IP address and counts the view.
- Google runs Google Analytics.
- Resend sends account emails.
Changing or deleting your information
When you are signed in, your Account page lets you change your email or password, or delete your account.
Deleting your account removes it, your saved recipes and their public pages straight away. Search engines can take a while to drop pages they had already listed.
Deleting does not clear the free-recipe cookie from your browser, or our note that its random ID has used the free recipe. Analytics data is not tied to your account, so it expires on the schedule above.
